The programme is in English.
It focuses on global challenges, as climate change and food safety, new and recurring infections, personalized medicine; is based on the tradition of fundamental and classical biological education, along with special attention to novel approaches offered by bioinformatics, omics technologies, and systems biology.
The General biology program is intended to give students a broad training in the Biological Sciences and an opportunity to explore a wide range of elective courses.
In the course of their studies, students acquire a deep fundamental knowledge in both classical biology (botany, zoology, systematics, theory of evolution, classical genetics) and physical and chemical biology (biotechnology, biomedicine, biophysics, biochemistry, genetic engineering, immunology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, neurobiology, physiology).
In addition, students study other areas of knowledge such as: mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, psychology and economics.
During practical classes students learn modern methods of scientific research, including biochemical, biophysical, molecular biology and biomedical research.
